Increased Functionality With Power Platform

Integration of the Power Platform toolkit is allowing companies to provide services to end users that historically were difficult and time consuming for developers to deliver.  The integration of no code solutions like PowerApps and Power Automate provide a fast and flexible solution to a number of historically intractable problems.  These solutions can be housed within existing PowerBi Solutions making PowerBi a complete solution package to the end user.

Power Platform Case Study

‘The Book Company’ has a number of slowly moving prices which cannot be updated through the ERP system. The prices depend on volume of purchase. The solution could be developed with the ERP provider but the costs for development are often high and some functionality is outside the scope of ERP. The Book Company also need a report to show the current prices on the system and an email system to send the current Price Lists to re-sellers.

The Solution needs to be available to anyone with the appropriate access and must be available to users through there devices while in meetings with potential customers.

The solution must be intuitive and require little or no training.

The solution must be developed and deployed quickly.

Solution

Leveraging PowerBi a report can be produced to display the current Prices on the ERP system. Fast deployment through PowerBI of reporting ensures that Prices can be made visible to the end users with minimal development time.  PowerBi also provides access to devices on the cloud making the data accessible in the field.

Using PowerApps embedded in PowerBI provides seamless integration of report filters and the ability to update the underlying data directly through PowerApps.  Simply change the list prices; submitting the data validates the data and updates on the source system.

Finally the addition of a Power Automate flow allows the current pricing list to be sent to any number of users by simply pressing a button.

Conclusion

The combination of PowerBi, PowerApps and PowerAutomate offer a complete package which can be tailored to almost all projects whilst being scalable and deploying quickly.
